NEW YORK - A cab driver from the Bronx is under arrest after police say he helped cause a deadly hit-and-run on the Upper East Side early Wednesday morning.

It happened around 5 a.m. on Lexington Avenue between 68th and 69th streets.

Investigators say driver Azizur Mazumder was driving down Lexington when a female passenger suddenly opened the door and fell out onto the road mid-block.

He allegedly kept on driving.

Police say the woman was hit moments later by another cab, which then took off.

Mazumder is charged with leaving the scene of an accident and reckless endangerment.

The NYPD's Collision Investigation Squad is still looking for the driver who hit the victim.
