NEW YORK - Former New York Knicks star Charles Oakley has filed a civil lawsuit over his ejection from Madison Square Garden earlier this year.
Oakley says he was defamed and discriminated against after a scuffle with arena security guards in February.
He is suing the team's owner James Dolan, the Madison Square Garden Company, and MSG Sports & Entertainment.
Oakley says they falsely accused him of being an alcoholic.
He has requested a trial by jury and compensation for emotional distress and mental anguish.
After February's scuffle, Oakley was charged with assault.
Those charges were later dropped under a plea deal.
NY1 has reached out to MSG for comment about the lawsuit.
