Mayor Bill de Blasio met with constituents Wednesday at his most recent town hall in Williamsburg.

Education, affordable housing, and gentrification were some of the topics covered.

The mayor highlighted a number of new benefits for the area, including a 500-unit affordable housing development planned for the old Greenpoint Hospital site, and two new school gyms.

At the event, De Blasio also signed three bills into law, cracking down on contractors doing illegal construction - a tactic that some landlords use to drive out tenants.

“The whole idea is, if you’re trying to harass a tenant or help a landlord kick them out, these are the ways that we put real consequences to stop that kind of activity," De Blasio said.

As with previous town halls, the mayor’s primary rival Sal Albanese also popped up, speaking to people before they headed inside.

The primaries will be held on September 12.
