Days after filing a lawsuit against the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), New York State's attorney general has declared victory.

Eric Schneiderman said the EPA and its leader Scott Pruitt agreed to his terms and withdrew from the suit.

Schneiderman and 16 other attorney generals filed the suit Tuesday, claiming that the Trump administration illegally suspended a safeguard meant to reduce climate-changing emissions back in May.

The policy requires states to measure and set reduction targets for greenhouse gas emissions by vehicles on highways.

Schneiderman said the move violated federal law because it was carried out without notifying the public.
