The mother of an emotionally disturbed man shot by police speaks out after the justice department refused to file charges against the officers.

Crowds gathered in Lower Manhattan to rally in support of Mohamed Bah.

The Justice Department says it's finished its investigation into the case and declined to press charges against the police department.

His mother says police officers should not be able to get away with murder.

"Mohamed never committed a crime, Mohamed was in his own room," she said. "When they say that police don't kill an individual, I'm sick and tired hearing this everywhere."

The 28-year old was shot and killed by police in September of 2012 when his relatives called 911 saying he was acting "erratically."

Police say Bah attacked them with a knife when they arrived to the scene, injuring two officers.

That's when they opened fire and fatally shot Bah.

He had no criminal record or documented history of mental illness.
