There is a new place in the city for foodie lovers to check out and try new delicacies in Manhattan.

20 vendors set up shop Saturday in SoHo for the debut of Smorg Square.

It is a spinoff of the popular Smorgasburg outdoor food market in Brooklyn.

People can get a chance to sample food and drinks from around the world.

"This was a vacant lot, you know, for many years running, and so we're bringing new life to a new area," said Eric Demby, a Smorgasburg co-founder. "Anyone can come here; it's free and open to the public. We have this nice deck and a boardwalk and seating and shading."

"We love the idea that they're using this abandoned space for this kind of event," one foodie attending said. "They have different cuisines. It's not just American. They have Japanese, Korean. They also have Indian food."

Smorg Square is slated to be open Fridays through Sundays until the end of the year.

The founder hopes it can stay open seven days a week, all year long, starting next spring.
