Officials are hoping for a big catch this weekend on the Hudson River.

The annual fish count gets underway Saturday.

Naturalists with the state will be trying to net, trap and reel inhabitants of the waterway, all to get a better look at what's populating our waterways. The fish will then be released.

Visitors are welcome to help collect and count fish at Hudson River Park and Randall's Island in Manhattan, Brooklyn Bridge Park in DUMBO and Valentino Pier in Red Hook.

The estuary and watershed of the Hudson River are home to more than 200 species.
