Crews from across the country are getting ready to show off their moves at the city's biggest breakdancing contest.

The McDonald's B-Boy Royale is being held at NYU next weekend.

Eight teams are getting set to break it down for the chance to win the championship title and a $5,000 prize.

Now in its 4th year, the event is also celebrating breakdancing's legacy as a New York City original.

We spoke with one member of the legendary Rock Steady Crew, who was there to see "B-Boying" go from fad to phenomenon.

"We were performing in places like the Peppermint Lounge, the Ritz, the Roxy, Negril, all these clubs from the early 80's, and that became the new happening in New York City as disco was being played out," said Richard "Crazy Legs" Colon.

Proceeds from the show go to the Ronald McDonald House Charities of New York.
