People caught making bomb threats in New York state will now face new stricter penalties.

Governor Cuomo has signed legislation establishing a minimum one-year jail sentence for bomb threat suspects.

The new rules were introduced in response to a bomb threat campaign targeting the Anti-Defamation League's headquarters in Midtown in March, along with Jewish Community Centers across the country.

32-year old Juan Thompson pleaded guilty to calling in the threats, and could face up to 10 years in prison.
