Family and friends are mourning the loss of a father and son who died on the same day in the Bronx.

Duro Akil, 34, seen above on the right, was shot in the torso Monday in the lobby of his Williamsbridge building, according to the city police department.

The father of two died Wednesday at a local hospital, police said. On that day, his family returned home to tell Akil's father that he had died.

That is when they found Okera Ras I, seen above on the left, dead in his bed, the family said. He had suffered a heart attack.

Friends NY1 spoke with said the news of the deaths was devastating.

"It's hard to explain the feeling without cursing and censoring. That's how bad I felt finding out, you know, hours within each other," said Chadwick Tobias, Akil's childhood friend. "It's just bad, man. God rest their souls, I just hope they're resting in peace."

A makeshift shrine has formed in front of the building where Akil was shot.

The family is now planning joint funeral services for both men.

Police said they are still looking for the gunman.
