The 27th annual Hong Kong Dragon Boat Festival makes a splash in Queens this weekend.
The ornate boats are racing in the waters at Flushing Meadows-Corona Park.
"I like that it's a good exercise, I like the camaraderie, I like that we've all gotten to know each other the past summer," said Cindy Suh of the Healthfirst Dragons team.
The festival also features Chinese food, crafts, and dances.
Organizers said the races are a fun way to learn about Chinese culture and stay active.
"First of all, it's a fun event, and then second of all, it's a family event," said Henry Wan, the chairman of the New York festival in New York. "It's one of the few events that combines the sporting element with the festival, so that's why people like to participate.
The Dragon Boat Open Championship finals get underway Sunday.
More than 200 teams are expected to participate in this year's races.
The festival runs until 5 p.m. both days.
