NEW YORK - Funeral arrangements have been made for the New York City Police Department officer killed in the line of duty earlier this week in the Bronx.
A wake for Officer Miosotis Familia will be held Monday at World Changers Church on Grand Concourse in Fordham Heights, first from 2 to 4 p.m. and then 7 to 9 p.m.
Her funeral will be held Tuesday at 10:00 a.m.
An NYPD procession brought Familia's body to the Schuyler Funeral Home on East Tremont Avenue on Thursday.
She was shot and killed by Alexander Bonds while sitting in an NYPD mobile command unit early Wednesday morning.
Police say Bonds' girlfriend was so concerned about his behavior she took him to St. Barnabas Hospital on July 1, but he was quickly released.
Police found medication in Bonds' apartment, including anti-depressants and anti-psychotic drugs but it's not clear if he was taking them.
Authorities also say Bonds' girlfriend reached out to police about him several times.
Governor Andrew Cuomo has ordered state officials to make sure the staff at St. Barnabas followed proper procedures.
The city is investing more than a million dollars to install bulletproof doors and windows on some police vehicles.
Meanwhile, nearly $1.5 million will go towards retrofitting all 72 command vehicles with bullet-resistant door panels and window inserts.
It comes days after the Bronx officer's killing.
Initially, the department's plan was to only equip patrol cars with ballistic panels.
The city says the command vehicles will have bulletproof protection by the end of this year.
