Businesses in Jackson Heights are doing their part to make sure all customers know that they are welcome.

The 82nd Street Partnership has joined 21 other business improvement districts in the “Hate Has No Business Here" campaign. Store owners are posting fliers and stickers in their business to promote the cause.

The campaign's aim is to inspire conversations to combat discrimination, and organizers say they want to express the idea that love and acceptance is patriotic.

“The business owners themselves, who are minority, they don't tolerate hate and they want to know to the clients that they are safe in their establishment,” said Leslie Ramos, Executive Director of the 82nd Street Partnership.

“I hope, I wish that everybody does the same thing, and it's going to be better for everybody,” added business owner Patracia Salazar.

The fliers have been translated into nine different languages.
