The annual J'Ouvert festival in Brooklyn will shift to a new time this year.

Borough President Eric Adams says the Labor Day weekend event will run from 6 a.m. to 11 a.m., instead of starting at 2 a.m.

The time shift is meant to curb gang and and gun violence at the Caribbean culture parade.

Two people were killed last year during the overnight festivities despite a ramped up police presence and lighting.

And in 2015, Carey Gabay, an aide to Governor Andrew Cuomo, was fatally shot in a crossfire.

Organizers say they're hosting anti-gang violence and educational events in the weeks leading up to the parade.
