Now is the time to try some of the city's finest dishes without dishing out a lot of cash.

NYC Restaurant Week is underway.

Four hundred restaurants around the city are offering $29 prix fixe lunches and $42 dinners.

That includes the historic Delmonico's in Manhattan, where classics like eggs benedict, Delmonico steak and the baked Alaska, which they invented.

"It's great for the diners that want to try new foods and really expand their horizons, but it's also great for the restaurants themselves," said Chris Heywood, senior vice president of global communications at NYC and Co.

"We try and give you exactly what we serve on the menu, and hoping that that's going to build a long-lasting relationship with new customers," said Billy Oliva, executive chef at Delmonico's.

Restaurant Week actually goes on for several weeks, until August 18.
