The city's heat wave has stretched in a fourth day, but some relief is expected Saturday evening.

A heat advisory was in effect for the five boroughs until 6 p.m.

Temperatures have been as high as 92 degrees, but thanks to the humidity, it has felt more like the upper-80s and mid-90s.

The city is expected to cool down Saturday night after rain and thunderstorms roll through the area.

Temperatures Sunday are projected to finally dip out of the 90s for a day, with a high of 83 degrees anticipated with lots of clouds and a few storms.

Cooling centers are open across the five boroughs, located in libraries, senior centers, and public housing facilities.

Those 18 or older can also get a fire hydrant spray cap at their local firehouse. You must show ID to receive one.

The city saw two heat waves in 2017 before this current one.

So far this year, the city has sweat through 11 days of 90 degrees or above. On average, we have about 15 of those days a year. Last year, we had 21.

Despite the heat, New York Road Runners hosted a training event Saturday morning in Central Park for the November marathon.

Organizers cut the practice short by five miles in attendance because of the high temperatures, and mandated that runners start their final lap around The Park before 9:30 a.m. so they would finish before the excessively high temperatures set in.

Some runners NY1 spoke with said they took the session a little more lightly as a safety measure.

"I think it is a good idea…I guess for novice racers like me," runner Steve Maya said. "I don't want to kind of overdue it, so, yeah, I think it is a great idea."

Thousands of runners still pounded the pavement for a total of 15 miles.
