Prospect Park will be an oasis of calm as it goes car-free for the rest of the summer.

The park's East Drive is normally open to northbound traffic during the morning.

But now it's closed around the clock through the weekend after Labor Day.

It's a move designed to make the park quieter and safer during the summer months.

Data from the Department of Transportation shows consistently less traffic around this time of year.

During the summer morning rush, the East Drive sees fewer than 300 cars, but nearly a thousand pedestrians, joggers and cyclists.

Prospect Park's West Drive was permanently closed to cars in 2015.
