NEW YORK - New Jersey Transit on Friday unveiled its plan to deal with a summer of track work and delays at Penn Station.

Several tracks used by New Jersey Transit at Penn will be closed between July 10 and September 1.

The railroad says customers should expect delays on all lines to and from the city during this time.

Manhattan-bound trains on the Morris and Essex lines will be rerouted to terminate at Hoboken, where tickets will be reduced fare and cross-honored on the PATH and on New York Waterway ferries.

A recent series of derailments and breakdowns at Penn prompted calls for track repairs to be made immediately.

Amtrak is the agency in charge of maintenance at Penn Station.

It will shut down three of its own tracks for several weeks in July and August as part of an accelerated Summer repair schedule.

The Long Island Railroad has yet to detail how it will deal with repairs.
