A boxing champ in Brooklyn is set to make her mixed martial arts debut.
Heather "The Heat" Hardy is a native of Gerritsen Beach.
She is currently the international featherweight champ of boxing.
For her next move, she's branching out to MMA, which was legalized in New York State last year.
There are fewer rules and different skillsets compared with traditional boxing, but Hardy says she can make the adjustment.
"I'm super psyched, I mean it's something new. I'm gonna get to do it front of my hometown crowd. Madison Square Garden is every fighter's dream. They could have asked me if I wanted to do a swordfight, I would have done it there," Hardy said.
The big fight at Madison Square Garden is on June 24.
