An undocumented immigrant who worked as a September 11th cleanup worker is reunited with his family after being detained by immigration officials.

Carlos Cardona, 48, was arrested and detained back in February for a 27-year-old drug offense.

The Queens resident was released Wednesday, just one day after Rep. Joe Crowley launched a petition calling for his freedom.

Governor Andrew Cuomo also granted him a pardon.

"It's incredible. My feeling is incredible. It's something so emotional," Cardona said. "To be bac reunited with my family and be back with my family is the best thing that ever happened to me, I can say that."

Cardona developed a respiratory illness after helping out at the World Trade Center site.

He must periodically check in with immigration agents until his case is decided.
