A donation to a nature preservation conservancy in Broad Channel will help keep a summer employment program afloat.

Resorts World Casino New York City presented a $5,000 check to the American Littoral Society Tuesday.

The money will go towards paying around 30 high school and college students who are spending their summer rehabbing Jamaica Bay. Jamaica Bay Guardian Don Riepe says those dollars will make an impact in more ways than one.

“Getting these kids off the street, teaching them something about the environment and helping to fund them” are among those positive impacts, according to Riepe.

“It's definitely going to go a long way in terms of keeping this program growing,” said Michelle Stoddart, a representative for Resorts World.

This isn't the first time Resorts World has teamed up with the American Littoral Society. The casino featured some of Riepe's pictures in its Red Wall Art Gallery last April.
