Bring the magic back to the castle, no, not Hogwarts — Belvedere Castle in Central Park.

The 19th century centerpiece was designed to provide a vantage point from one of the highest points in the park.

A $6 million restoration project this fall will focus on cleaning and waterproofing the castle's exterior masonry, installing a new drainage system, and rejuvenating the original wood design of the pavilions.

Belvedere Castle is one of Central Park's most-visited destinations and Park officials say this touch up is long overdue.

"The castle was comprehensively restored last in 1983," said Chief Landscape Architect for the Central Park Conservancy Christopher Nolan. "It was one of the kind of flagship projects in the efforts to restore the park. It has been over 3 decades since then, it has not had any comprehensive work, except for the windows, which is over 25 years old at this point."

And the fix up doesn't stop there.

The Billy Johnson Playground is set for a makeover including new play equipment on Central Park's East Side.
