The Supreme Court says it will take on the case of President Donald Trump's amended travel ban.

Until then, the controversial executive order will take effect in most cases.

The court says it will review whether the Trump administration can temporarily bar new visas for citizens of six mostly Muslim nations.

This overturns the rulings of several federal appeals courts that blocked the ban, including one in Virginia earlier this month.

During a joint news conference with the prime minister of India, President Trump did not reference the travel ban directly, but he said he's committed to working with India to combat terrorism.

"Both our nations have been struck by the evils of terrorism, and we are both determined to destroy terrorist organizations and the radical ideology that drives them. We will destroy radical Islamic terrorism," Trump said.

The Supreme Court is expected to hear the case in the fall.
