New York State is rolling in the green thanks to an initiative supporting progressive clean energy economies.

According to Governor Cuomo's office, the state's Green Bank generated a net income of $2.7 million in the last fiscal year.

That's a return on a nearly $300 million investment, and comes in a full year ahead of schedule.

First launched in 2014, the Green Bank works with the private sector to support investment in the clean energy industry.

The program has helped cut greenhouse gas emissions by close to six-and-a-half tons.

That's equal to taking between 50,000 and 70,000 cars off the road for 20 years.
