NEW YORK - Jury selection is set to begin Monday in Brooklyn in the federal fraud trial of former pharmaceutical executive Martin Shkreli.

The 34-year-old former CEO of Turing Pharmeceuticals is charged with securities fraud, wire fraud and conspiracy.

Prosecutors say Shkreli lost millions of dollars through bad trades through his hedge fund side business, then stole $11 million from a second pharmaceutical company to pay them back.

Shkreli initially made headlines when Turing raised the price of the life-saving HIV drug Daraprim from $13.50 a pill to $750.

He resigned shortly after his fraud arrest in December 2015.
