The FDNY says a record number of minorities have applied to take this year’s firefighter entrance exam.

It says 63 percent of its 72,000 applicants are African-American, Latino or Asian.

Four years ago — the last time the test was given — it was 48 percent.

The number of female applicants went up to 13 percent, compared to six percent previously.

The FDNY extended its filing deadline several times, which helped boost the overall number of recruits.

The department has been under heat in recent years stemming from a 2014 racial discrimination lawsuit with the Vulcan Society of Black Firefighters.

The FDNY says 29 percent of the new recruits are black, surpassing its goals.

The applicants are set to take the entrance exam this fall.
