The National September 11th Memorial and Museum has revealed plans to install a permanent dedication to honor those who helped in the rescue and recovery efforts.

Museum officials announced plans for a commemorative space and walkway in their honor.

The dedication will expand on existing exhibits and programming at the museum.

It will also bring attention to the health impacts of working at the World Trade Center site after the terror attacks.

Workers NY1 spoke with say it means a lot for their sacrifices to get recognized.

"The cost of 9/11 is greater than just this memorial," said one person at the museum. "Rescuers continue to get sick and continue to die, and people need to keep that in mind."

"It was not easy work, but you had, when you had people around you and everybody was doing the same thing, you could kind of feed off each other and kind of pull each other along when you needed to," said Lieutenant Adrienne Walsh of the FDNY.

Tuesday marked the 15th anniversary of the end of the recovery effort following the attacks.
