Police are investigating a case on Staten Island where a 1-year-old girl may have ingested methadone.

Police say they received a call around 8 p.m. Sunday for an unconscious baby at a home on Grantwood Avenue in Arden Heights.

EMS rushed the girl to the hospital, where an investigation determined she had some sort of liquid on her face that may have been methadone.

The child was given Narcan and regained consciousness.

Neighbors NY1 spoke to were stunned.

"It's tragically shocking and really disheartening and sad," said one neighbor.

"People on drugs shouldn't even have children. They shouldn't have the drugs around the children. They should definitely safeguard it, and if they're going to use it or need it, keep it away from the children," said another.

No arrests have been made.

The investigation is ongoing.
