New Yorkers are off and running in this year's Brooklyn Half Marathon.

Tens of thousands are making their way across 13.1 miles of the borough this morning.

Runners started at the Brooklyn Museum and will eventually wind their way down to the Coney Island Boardwalk.

It's the second race of New York Road Runners' Five-Borough Series and is the largest half-marathon in the country.

Organizers tell us the race helps bring people from all walks of life together.

"Coming out here to Brooklyn, you'll see lots of people from the community out here running with us," said Peter Ciaccia, president of New York Roadrunners. "And that's what it's about, community organization. We're in the community 365 days a year so it's all about building community."

Hundreds of kids ages 7 to 18 will also lace up today for the annual New York Road Runners Boardwalk Run.

The one-mile race started at 11:30.
