NEW YORK - A larger than life ballerina is now gracefully seated at Rockefeller Center.

It's the work of artist Jeff Koons.

The 45-foot tall inflatable sculpture aims to bring awareness to International Missing Children's Month this May.

Organizers say last year some 465,000 children went missing in the U.S. alone.

Koons says the massive ballerina serves as a beacon of hope for humanity.

"This work, Seated Ballerina, will have a lot of different meanings to people but there will be certain shared things and it reflects light and light is always kind of a symbol of life energy in a way. And you know flowers tilt towards the light as we do as people and we realize that it's dealing with a sense of future potential that we have," Koons said.

The statue will be on display through June 2.
