A construction worker is seriously hurt after a 7-ton cable pinned him to the ground in Queens.

"When the cable came down, it flipped 180 degrees, and, as it landed, it pinned right above his ankles — both feet," FDNY Battalion Chief Chuck Downey told reporters.

Fire officials said it happened around 11 a.m. at a construction site at 126th St. and 82nd Ave. in Kew Gardens.

Investigators said a crane was holding up a hammer that was drilling a hole into the ground, but the cable that kept the machinery together snapped.

First responders said it took about 20 minutes to get the 41-year-old man out from under the machinery.

"We dug underneath, created enough space that we were able to move him without any further injury," FDNY Deputy Chief James DiDomenico said.

Officials said the victim was conscious as they dug him out. They were worried he might go into shock.

He was taken to Jamaica Hospital, and is expected to survive.

The city police department said there is no criminality with the incident.
