Police are questioning three students after a stabbing inside a Queens high school Tuesday morning.

The NYPD says they received a call just after 11 a.m. at John Bowne High School in Flushing.

They say a 16-year-old male student was found with a stab wound to his side.

He was taken to a nearby hospital and is expected to be OK.

Police say two 18-year-olds and a 17-year-old were taken into custody.

Police said they found a folding knife at the school.

Charges are pending.

Investigators said school safety agents were alerted to a fight on the first floor between the 16-year-old victim and three other students.

Police said it looks like the fight stemmed from a prior argument. "The school safety agents immediately intervened, and were able to separate the students involved in the altercation and take them into custody," said NYPD Assistant Chief David P. Barrere.

The city's Department of Education issued the following statement:

"Safety always comes first, and the NYPD and EMS immediately responded to this troubling incident. We are working closely with the NYPD as they conduct an investigation and will ensure it’s addressed."
