An 8-year-old Brooklyn boy is dead after he was hit in the head with a concrete flowerpot.

It happened around 5:30 p.m. Thursday at the boy's home on Ryder Street in Marine Park.

Police say Kevin Reilly was playing outside when he tried to climb a metal window guard that was on the ground floor of the house.

They say he reached up for the planter, but it was not secure, and it fell and hit him.

He was rushed to the hospital, but he died from his injuries.

"I heard her screaming for 911, you know. I was upstairs. I saw her trying to lift something off of something. So that must have been from the little boy. And she had a hard time lifting it. By the time I could get down, two other gentlemen ran over to help," said one witness

"He was blueish, and he had a little blood, and his belly, it was like, popped," said another.

Police are still investigating the incident.

The medical examiner will determine Kevin's exact cause of death.
