A whale that beached itself in the Bronx over the weekend has died.
The 10-foot whale washed up at Orchard Beach around 11:30 a.m. Sunday.
Police, the Parks Department, and marine life experts worked for several hours to try to save the animal, but it was eventually euthanized.
The whale was brought to the Bronx Zoo where a necropsy will be peformed to figure out why it may have washed ashore.
