Governors Island is expected to see a wave of new visitors this year thanks in part to the new citywide ferry service.

Officials are launching new routes to the island starting on May 6, the first weekend the park opens to the public.

Rides will begin along the East River Route, which departs from either DUMBO or Wall Street.

Then, starting June 1, ferries will go to and from Brooklyn Bridge Park or Red Hook, depending on the time of the day.

A ferry trip will cost $2.75, the same price as a subway ride.
