NEW YORK - Police are on the lookout for a man they say took a piece of the iconic Waldorf Astoria Hotel before it closed for renovations earlier this week.
Shortly after 1 a.m. on February 28, investigators say the man took a dedication plaque for the Midtown hotel's lobby clock.
They say the man was accompanied by two women, who left the hotel with him in a yellow cab.
The hotel closed its doors the next day.
The lobby clock was built for the 1893 Chicago World's Fair and has been a part of the hotel since it opened in 1931.
