It's been 10 years since one of the city's deadliest fires.

On the night of March 7, 2007, flames broke out inside a house on Woodycrest Avenue in The Bronx.

The fire killed ten people inlcuding nine children who were all 11 years old and younger.

The victims all had roots in Mali - five of them were buried there.

NY1's Dean Meminger traveled with family members West Africa for the funerals.

Family members and friends say they will not mark the anniversary in any specific way.

Their strict Islamic beliefs have taught them not to question or be angry with God.

"If something happens, you have to know God, which is Allah and he has decided to do that and you have to support it," said Imam Moussa Wage of the Highbridge Islamic Center.

"When you look back now, I think the most important thing you see in life is not how much money you accumulate. It is how much you can do with your community as a group, as a people," said Bourema Niambene, a family friend.

Dean will have an extended look back at the fire on New York Tonight at 8 p.m.
