Police on Staten Island are searching for the hit and run driver who struck and critically injured a 13-year-old boy Thursday.

Sources say it happened around 6 p.m. as police were trying to stop a black Chrysler Concord for only having one license plate.

The driver took off and hit the teen at the intersection of Henderson Avenue and Alaska Street in West Brighton.

The driver then lost control of the car, hit a utility pole, got out and ran away.

The boy, indentified as Quaddel Lovelace, suffered a broken ankle, bruised lung and cuts to his face and was taken to Richmond University Medical Center in critical but stable condition.

Anyone with information on the driver's whereabouts should contact the Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS, or text CRIMES and then enter TIP577, or visit www.nypdcrimestoppers.com
