A station along the R train in Brooklyn is now closed until the fall so it can undergo a major facelift.

It's the first of three stations getting an upgrade.

Renovations begin Monday at the 53rd Street stop on Fourth Avenue.

Service in both directions will be suspended for six months.

The Bay Ridge Avenue stop closes on April 29.

And the Prospect Avenue station closes for renovations on June 5.

All the stations will get new signage and digital countdown clocks.

The walls and ceilings will also undergo repairs.

Straphangers who spoke with NY1 say while the closures may cause headaches, they're glad to see the work getting done.

"It's gonna be good for everybody, it's a good idea," said one hopeful commuter.

"Oh, I don't like it, I don't believe it's going to be done in six months, and our rates are going up what today so it's kinda like wow the MTA is really doing a number on us as usual. This stop is particularly bad, so I'm glad they're improving it," noted another commuter.

The upgrades are part of a $72 million modernization project announced by Governor Andrew Cuomo last year.

Straphangers who use the 53rd Street stop should use nearby N or R stations instead.

They can take the B37 and B63 buses to get to those stations.
