While the Mets are getting ready for Opening Day so is the crew in Queens. NY1's Leisha Majtan takes us behind the scenes at the ballpark and gives us a preview of what’s new on the menu this year.

Gone are the days of just snacking on peanuts and Cracker Jack at the ball park.

Mets fans don’t just get excited about the games at Citi Field, they also look forward to the food.

"I am double excited because I'm also a Mets fan as well. When I come here, I don't know if I should be thinking about food and cooking or I should be watching the ball game," said Bill Dorrler, the Executive Chef, “Nicoletta.”

The team hosted a preview Thursday of what's new at Citi Field for the 2017 season.

On the menu are some exciting new options like Brooklyn-based "Big Mozz."

"We wanted to reinvent the mozzarella stick so we built into the breading fresh garlic, parsley, Pecorino Romano, so it's flavor dynamite," said Matt Gallira, the founder of “Big Mozz.”

"Nicoletta" will also be serving up some Italian favorites to fans this season.

"We have a phenomenal chicken parmesan sandwich with stracciatella cheese and fresh tomato and fresh basil," said Dorrler.

And don't forget dessert.

"DŌ," the popular West Village cookie dough company, now has a spot at the stadium.

"We'll be serving our cookie dough by the scoop, like we do in our shop, and we'll have a variety of different flavors, as well as ice cream. It's going to be really yummy," said Kristen Tomlin the founder of “DŌ.”

There are other new attractions at the stadium this year.

Mets fans can quench their thirst in the outfield, underneath the scoreboard at the brand new Jim Beam Bourbon Bar.

Also new is a season ticket holder V.I.P. room.

"This is the place, during the game, where you can come in, get questions answered. If you want to renew your tickets, or if you have questions answered about post season access," said Chris Zaber, the Vice President of ticket sales.

You can see the rest of what's cooking at the stadium in just a couple of weeks.

The Mets take on the Atlanta Braves on April 3 for their home opener.
