Former New York Yankees and Mets manager Dallas Green has died. 

Green's baseball career spanned more than 60 years.

He was a major league pitcher in the 1960s before becoming a manager.

He led the Phillies to their first World Series title in 1980, and later served as general manager of the Chicago Cubs.

Green managed the Yankees for part of the 1989 season, and led the Mets from 1993 to 1996.

He had been in declining health for awhile and died Wednesday in Philadelphia.

Dallas Green was 82 years old.
