The New York Rangers may be playing a game outdoors in Queens next year.

According to Newsday, plans are in the works to have the Blueshirts face off against the Sabres at Citi Field in the 2018 NHL Winter Classic on New Year's Day.

This would mark the first time the annual game was ever played in the city.

The Rangers played two outdoor games at Yankee Stadium in 2014 as part of the NHL's Stadium Series.

Newsday says the Sabres are being chosen because Buffalo hosted the first Winter Classic in 2008, and next year's game would be the 10th in the series.

The Rangers played their only Winter Classic in Philadelphia in 2012.
