NEW YORK - The American Museum of Natural History has put its mummy where its mouth is.

A brand new special exhibit opens next week featuring 18 different mummies and ancient remains.

Pieces from Egypt and South America are on display, some of which have never been shown before to the public.

There are also interactive tablets that allow visitors to virtually unwrap the mummies.

"We have a number of natural mummies in this show, where the process was just decaying naturally. But our story is, people understood this, and in cultures all over the world, we're focusing on Peru and Egypt, they turned that into a cultural event," said AMNH Curator in Anthropology David Hurst Thomas.

The exhibit opens on Monday, March 20.
