A Staten Island man died after having a heart attack while shoveling snow at his parents' house during Tuesday's storm.

Police say someone tried to give Edward Wilkinson, 47, CPR and then called 911 after he collapsed outside the home on Stobe Ave.

Wilkinson's parents said they told him to wait before going out.

"People should really think twice about going out in this type of weather," said Rosemary Wilkinson, Edward's mother.

EMS transported Wilkinson to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead around 6 p.m. Tuesday.

Health experts say shoveling snow can sometimes trigger a heart attack because the cold temperatures, combined with high physical activity, put more stress on the body.
