Locals gathered in South Richmond Hill on Saturday to learn more about dealing with federal immigration officials.
Travelspan, a travel agency located in Queens, held a "Know Your Rights Panel" to better inform residents in the community.
At the event, attendees were able to ask immigration attorneys about being stopped by ICE agents and any other concerns they had.
The panel was put together following recent rumors about immigration raids along Liberty Avenue that turned out to be false.
"The idea here is to address the fears and the misinformation out there and at the same time to start a series of conversation to continue this dialogue so that our community can be informed," said Vishnu Mahadeo, the Director of the Richmond Hill Economic Development Council.
A "Know Your Rights" Town Hall will be help on Thursday at the Richi Rich Palace on Atlantic Avenue.
