Nearly 200 firefighters take down a 4-alarm fire at a pair of apartment buildings on the Upper West Side.

Flames were sparked on the third floor of the building on Amsterdam Avenue near 85th Street just before 6 p.m. Friday.

Officials say it rose another two flights before hitting the roof, and spread to a building next door.

It took about an hour-and-a-half to bring the flames under control.

Five people, including four firefighters, suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

One tenant described it as a chaotic scene.

"Her neighbor started banging on the door and on the window for her to get out and that's what she did," the tenant said. "She grabbed whatever she could and grabbed the cat and my good friend who's around here called me. And that's when I left work and I came to pick her up and that's when I saw everything."

No word yet on what caused the fire.
