A neighborhood is mourning the death of a 15-year-old boy in Brooklyn. This is as police release surveillance video they hope will bring them a step closer to finding his killer. NY1's Lisa Voyticki filed the following report.

Police believe a man rushing into the passenger seat of a gold Honda Accord in East Flatbush, seen in the video above, had fired several rounds from a .380 revolver at a group of teens.

15-year-old Rohan Levy was struck in the head.

"And I hear somebody say, 'Call 911,' and I look, [and the] kid was lying down right here," a witness said at the scene of the shooting.

Levy was taken to Kings County Hospital on Monday afternoon. Three days later, he died. Police say he and his friends have no criminal record. NYPD Chief of Detectives Robert Boyce said one of the individuals was wearing red pants.

People who live on East 55th St. say the tragedy has shaken the quiet block.

"I got to teach my daughter what to do in a situation like this now," one woman said. "I didn't grow up like that. My mother didn't teach me how to run from gunshots and what to do. I'm so sad."

A block from the shooting, no one answered at Levy's home Friday, but a GoFundMe page has already raised more than $6,000. It says Levy was "always the comedian" and a "fun loving scholar" at the Williamsburg High School for Architecture and Design.

"He's a quiet little guy, always on his feet," one man said. "He's a youth, a youngster, always playing and stuff, but to go like that is kind of hard."

Police say the Honda Accord seen in the surveillance video has out of state license plates and damage on the front-passenger side.

If you see it, consider anyone inside armed and dangerous, and call Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS, or text CRIMES and then enter TIP577, or visit www.nypdcrimestoppers.com

Neighbors say a vigil for Levy is planned for Sunday.
