NEW YORK - On top of the booking fees, baggage fees, and other fees, air travelers could soon face an extra charge when taking a cab to and from city airports.

Under a proposed plan, passengers in taxis, Ubers, and other hired vehicles would pay a $4 "access fee" for every pickup and drop off at city airports.

The Port Authority says the fee would "help offset customer service benefits such as an improved taxi dispatch system and queue management system to move customers faster."

Similar fees are already in effect at major airports across the country, such as LAX and Chicago's O'Hare Airport.
