NEW YORK - The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey is pumping $77 million into protecting the Holland Tunnel and JFK Airport from flooding.
It's part of a plan to repair travel hubs that were damaged by Hurricane Sandy.
Plans include installing tide barriers at JFK, flood-proofing stairs at PATH stations, and repairing the north and south tubes of the Holland Tunnel.
Four PATH stations will get funding, including the Hoboken and Exchange Place stations.
The Port Authority says the project is a "key point" for recovering from Sandy.
It did not release specific details for the timeline, but says it expects construction to take several years.
