Israeli officials say the driver who killed four people by ramming into a group of soldiers in Jerusalem this morning was a supporter of the Islamic State militant group.

Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the Palestinian attacker was from an Arab neighborhood in East Jerusalem.

Israeli authorities say the truck veered off course Sunday and barreled into Israeli soldiers, who had just gotten off a bus.

Fifteen people were also hurt. Security footage shows the driver trying to back up, apparently in an effort to run over more people.

The attacker was shot and killed on the scene.

Governor Andrew Cuomo said he's saddened and outraged by the attack. In a statement, he says:

"In times of crisis, friends stand shoulder to shoulder with each other. Our thoughts are with the people of Israel today and we pray for those lost and injured and their families."
